Monday Morning News
If you’ve been following me on Wellness Hammock, you’ll have noticed I haven’t stuck to my Weekly Blog Schedule.
The truth?
I decided to live off-line a little more. Which means each post I add has more meaning, to me at least.
I like to keep my posts about wellness: how to eat healthy or ways to be healthier human beings. And, although this might not apply to you, maybe this post can be a “wellness” post too for anyone who is going through a similar situation.
Two weeks ago we found out my mother-in-law has brain cancer. It’s hard to find that out, to be given a prognosis and then try move past the denial stage. A day after we heard the prognosis, I got the article about yoga for grief in my inbox. I’d like to share a few memories from the last year, just so you can see how amazingly lucky I got to have such wonderful in-laws.
Last December we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters in Chicago. We stayed at a fancy hotel downtown and Saturday we shopped on Michigan Avenue. Mama Julie knows so much about random things.

For Elav’s 30th birthday we went to the Dominican Republic. It was an amazing trip… how many people can say that after being with their in-laws for a week straight?
Now my mama-in-law is at a rehabilitation facility. She has had two surgeries, lost some weight, and has a bit of damage to her brain (we don’t know how much yet).
One last thing before I peace out: a recent photo from the zoo.
