Good morni– er, afternoon! I sat down with the clear intention of blogging back in the a.m. – how the hours fly!
Today I’m writing about pizza! Most people consider pizza one of their guilty pleasures, placing it in the “junk food” category. And many of the thousand brands of pizza are junk! The crust is made with hydrogenated oils (read: trans fats), high fructose corn syrup, soybean oil, and/or preservatives.
And the toppings are questionable sometimes too. Did you request banana peppers? Probably has Yellow 5 coloring. Bacon? It may contain coloring and hydrolyzed soy protein. Pork, beef, chicken? You’re probably also getting hydrolyzed soy protein, natural/artificial flavoring, and partially hydrogenated soybean oils. (Reference.) This isn’t a 2-for-1 deal; a long ingredient list is not a good deal!
No worries, because I’ve happened on a good deal for your taste buds and your body!
